2 down, 1 to go

My first two exams went alright. The second one, Commodity Markets, was probably better than I would have had any right to expect and I think (hope) I’ve done better than I really deserved to, so that’s nice. Goes some way to making up for the vast majority of exams which I knew I deserved to do better in! One left: Econometrics on Saturday. Really not looking forward to that one!

Countdown…

It’s the last week of holidays and I’ve got 3 exams next week to revise for which is a pain. My computer is having massive issues and I’m about to have to format it and start again which is also somewhat inconvenient and to add to that my phone has pretty much stopped working. I hope next week works out better!

Holidaze

Hello World. I’m on holiday back down south which is quite exciting. It’s been really good to escape and chill out for a while and forget about work which is the eventuality which awaits me when I get back up north next week. And then exams…boo. It’s been really good to catch up with lots of different people, not to mention showing up at Ross’ wedding which was exciting. Also spending time with my little half brothers was good fun. I think I enjoyed their train set more than they did – there might even be some photos of my efforts when I sort out my phone. Oh and talking of which – my phone – is dying slowly. Very frustrating! Grrr. Anyway. Places to go, people to see etc…

Fail.

Oh dear. Today will be brilliant because I have to go and see my tutor and my accademic supervisor to explain why I failed to submit any work for one of my modules. This will be about as much fun as trying to eat a live duck with chopsticks.

Chez moi

A little picture of my room in my house which I’m renting with 5 other friends from Uni. Notice how tidy it is? This is because I have ridiculous priorities which will ultimately lead to Fail in most respects. Second photo added to demonstrate that my room isn’t as box-ish as it might have appeared – it’s really oddly long and thin.

Life, the University and everything

I am doing a degree in Economics and Finance at the University of York in the UK. It remains unclear whether this will result in some form of gainful employment…ever. I massively failed to secure an internship for this summer which is a bit of a shame but I’m sure it isn’t the be-all and end-all. Actually in fairness, the whole graduate scheme is looking a tad sketchy as I’m not massively convinced I’m 2.1 material and I’ve not really worked out what that means if I do in fact graduate. Or if I don’t – it’s a bridge that will be crossed when necessity mothers some future invention. Anyway, I just had a macroeconomics test and I think it went alright so that’s mildly encouraging. Oooh-rah.

So…This is a post which is exciting becuase I’ve not really done one before.

However I’m not entirely convinced that I’ve a great deal to say. I’m not really sure what the purpose of all this is except probably for my own entertainment. I’ve recently decided to take a step beyond firefox and declared that open source is in fact the way forward. More on this later. I’m also failing my degree and dealing with breaking up with my girlfriend so I’m probably far more angsty than I ever should be for my age. Still let’s see if we can’t channel that in to sarcastic remarks and pretend that I’m actually fairly witty.

Anyway, I keep finding things on the intertubes which I want to share with people and I thought that maybe this was a good way to do it. We shall see.
